Bober Markey Fedorovich’s James Merklin Named President-Elect of Northeast Ohio Medical University Foundation Board
AKRON, Ohio (June 3, 2011) – James E. Merklin, CPA, CFF, CFE, M. Acc., was named president-elect of the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) Foundation board (formerly known as the NEOUCOM Foundation). Merklin is a partner with the regional audit, tax and business advisory firm, Bober Markey Fedorovich. NEOMED Foundation serves as the fundraising arm for the University. It also works to broaden access to high quality medical and pharmacy education.
Merklin has been involved with the Foundation for six years, serving on the board as corporate secretary and corporate treasurer, subsequently. He will serve as president-elect for one year, and will take over as president for two, one-year terms starting in May 2012.
A partner at BMF since 2003, Merklin serves middle-market and high-growth clients in a variety of industries, specializing in manufacturing/distribution and retail/consumer products and services. He has extensive experience in employee benefit plans, business planning, financial forecasting, attestation services, fraud/forensic investigations, and internal control and operations reviews.
Merklin has a long history of community service working with many area nonprofit and civic organizations on their boards of directors and in other leadership capacities, including United Way of Summit County, Leadership Akron, Goodwill Industries of Akron and Community Support Services, Inc.
