BMF Expands SEC Advisory Group; Hires Senior Accountant Mark Novak
AKRON, OHIO (July 14, 2009) - The regional public accounting firm of Bober Markey Fedorovich (BMF) has hired Mark Novak, senior accountant in the firm’s SEC Advisory Services Group. The group provides publicly traded companies with advisory services related to accounting research, outsourced accounting and internal control assistance, financial reporting, transaction structuring and regulatory compliance.
Novak’s hiring enhances BMF’s offerings in this area bringing with him quality “Big Four” SEC experience. Previously with Deloitte & Touche, Novak has experience with financial statement and internal control audits of publicly traded companies in a variety of industries.
Novak graduated from Baldwin Wallace College with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and a Master of Business Administration in accounting.
BMF has seen its business with public companies grow rapidly during the past few years, particularly since the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) in 2002. The legislation called for a variety of new regulations involving financial control of public companies including a provision that prohibits a CPA firm, who serves as a company’s auditor, from providing accounting, tax and other non-audit consulting services. As a result, BMF has and continues to see significant new engagements from public companies.
