CONTROLLER
A Premiere Northeast Ohio Construction Company based in the greater Akron Area seeks a talented professional to fill the role of Controller.  As a key member of the Management team, the Controller will report directly to the V.P. Finance and Accounting and assume a hands-on role in leading the day-to-day activities of the accounting and finance departments in this fast paced, growing company to maximize its profitability and ensure sound financial reporting.  

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Hands on management of all aspects of the accounting and finance areas of the organization to ensure credibility by providing timely and accurate financial statements and related analyses of financial trends, budgets, job cost information and cash flows.
  • Oversight of A/R, A/P and payroll functions and cost accounting
  • Assist in the coordination and management of employee benefit plans and workers’ compensation
  • Maintain internal control policies and procedures to ensure (1) compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting, (2) safeguarding of corporate assets and (3) adherence to high ethical standards.


Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA preferred but not mandatory
  • 7+ years overall accounting experience with supervisory experience
  • Construction Industry experience required
  • Thorough understanding of the construction process and the related specialized accounting and job costing practices
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills  with ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong overall computer skills and  proficiency in Excel and Word; experience with Viewpoint construction software a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Results oriented, high level of personal integrity and dependability and a strong sense of urgency
