Rick's experience is focused on serving privately held middle market
and high growth clients in a variety of manufacturing, distribution,
healthcare and service industries. He has extensive experience in working
with closely held and family held businesses and their attendant issues
including succession planning, merger and acquisition transactions, tax
planning, employee stock ownership plans, estate planning, business
valuations, and not-for-profit organizations.
A 1974 graduate of The University of Akron, Rick was with KPMG Peat
Marwick from 1974 – 1980. He joined Bober, Markey, Fedorovich & Company in
1980, was elected a Partner in 1982, and was elected the Firm's Managing
Partner in 1996.
Rick is Chairman of the Board of Akron General Health System and a
member of the Executive Committee and Compensation Committee member, Past
Board Chairman and Executive Committee Member of Akron General Medical
Center, Past Chairman and present Executive Committee member and life
Trustee of the Greater Akron Chamber (FKA Akron Regional Development),
Past Chairman and present Board Member of Leadership Akron and past
President of its Alumni Association, Past Board Chairman of the Akron
General Development Foundation, Past Chairman of the Visiting Nurse
Service and Hospice Development Foundation, 2003 Campaign Chairman of the
United Way of Summit County and presently serving as the 2004-2005 Chair
of the Alexis De Tocqueville Division of the United Way of Summit County,
Member of the Board of Akron Tomorrow, Executive Committee member and
Vice-Chairman of The University of Akron College of Business
Administration Advancement Council, Strategic Planning Committee member,
PKF International (fka Polaris International), Past Board of Trustees
President, Metropolitan Akron Residential Services for the Developmentally
Disabled, Board Member, Visiting Nurse Service, Inc. Board member, Akron
Automobile Club, and Chairman of the Board and Trust Fund Director for
Archbishop Hoban High School. Rick is a member of the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public
Accountants, the Akron Estate Planning Council, the Association for
Corporate Growth—Cleveland chapter, the Greater Akron Chamber Board, and
the Merger and Acquisition Clearinghouse. Rick accepted the 2004 Pillar
Award for outstanding community service and the Public Service Award,
granted for statewide recognition by the Ohio Society of CPAs. Rick
recently received the Justin T. Rogers Spirit of Hospice Award.
Rick is a frequent speaker on various business topics. He has also
authored a number of articles on topics which have appeared in Crain’s
Cleveland Business, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Small Business News.
