Alexander Bagne, JD, MBA, CPA joined the Firm as a Tax Senior Manager. Alex graduated from The Ohio State University, received an MBA from the University of Minnesota, and earned a JD from the Tulane School of Law. He has specializations in international tax, tax credit applications, complex tax strategies, and fixed asset reviews. He has nearly a decade of “Big-Four” work experience.

Dave Roberts has been named Director of SEC Advisory Services for BMF.

Effective January 1, Dale Ruther was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of the Western Reserve.

On January 30, Dave Wehrle chaired the panel presentation Retail Review: Was it a storm or tsunami – and where do we go from here? for the Turnaround Management Association.

Mark Bober presented Discounted Cash Flows & Management Projections at the PKF National Business Valuation & Litigation Services Bootcamp on January 12 in Chicago. Mark also served as a guest lecturer at The University of Akron for the MBA and Law schools on March 3.

On Tuesday, January 13, BMF hosted the ASWA/IMA Joint 2009 Tax Update and Cindy Mitchell presented Individual Tax Update.

Nazareth Housing Development Corporation has appointed Mike Moldvay as its new Treasurer effective February 1.

Jim Merklin served as a speaker and moderator on February 4 on a nationwide conference call for the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, presenting Overview, Key Issues and Department of Labor Considerations in Employee Benefit Plan Audits.

Paula DiVencenzo and Cindy Mitchell were quoted extensively in “Tax time: How last year’s bad debt, job cuts and investment losses could affect your return,” which was published February 15 in the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Rick Fedorovich and the Firm were featured in an article in the Akron Beacon Journal on February 17 that described how to manage through the current economy.

Bober Markey Fedorovich was well represented at the annual Akron Beacon Journal tax call-in program on February 16, with Mike Hydell, Jeremy Depinet, Shay Music, Cindy Mitchell, Julianne Buynak and Stefanie Wise all taking calls to help taxpayers understand complexities in the filing of their returns.
